"The Five W’s Of the DSFL Hitting League"- Watch Video Here

Who?

Everyone can participate at the DSFL. The beauty of the DSFL is that all age groups have an equal opportunity to win the DSFL, including Mom and Dad. We have had some excellent father son combos that have gone far in the DSFL tournaments

What?

The DSFL is a competitive hitting league that takes place in the NWDS Academy. Teams of four to battle in a round robin tournament style hitting competition. The reason people love the DSFL is the competition and team camaraderie. Most of all the DSFL forces players to hit line drives and puts hitters in tough situations more often than a regular baseball game. It tests your mental hitting and your approach as a hitter.

Where?

All of the DSFL games are played in the Northwest Diamond Sports Academy. The beauty of our facility is the cage size. Our cages are all 30’x30’ this allows for the hitter and umpire to see the true trajectory of the ball. This distinguishes NWDS from other facilities. It also allows for a lot more fun within the DSFL games.

When?

The DSFL takes place two times a year. The first DSFL which is very competitive is in October; and goes into November. The second DSFL takes place in December and is an excellent way to prepare players for the upcoming season. It gets you the extra cuts you need as well as strong competition

Why?

The DSFL is hands down one of the most fun games you can incorporate baseball into, besides the game itself. You can play the DSFL inside rain or shine as well. The players that participate enjoy the DSFL because it creates intense competition and forces hitters of all ages to make adjustments for the mental side of hitting, situational hitting and team hitting. The DSFL is just flat out fun!

Q. What is the DSFL?

Flip League (DSFL) is a series of games played at the Northwest Diamond Sports Academy. Players compete in a best of 7 series match up. Each team plays one night per week. They are simulated games awarding the batter for Base hits, Doubles, Triples and Home Runs. This game makes for high intensity, competitive situations and a fun baseball atmosphere.

Q. What are the DSFL Rules?

1) Ages: All. Including parents and family members. (Must have 3-4 players per team) less than 3 players will result in an out to start the beginning of their inning. You can have other players come to games if you will not be present, but the substitute player cannot be a member of any other DSFL team.

2) Game: 5 inning games / 3 outs/ 5 run limit 5th inning no run limit. Best of 7 (first team to win 4 games) One hour time limit per series. If series is not finished within one hour time limit. The series will be settled by DSFL tie breaker (see section 8 below) Series goes 2/3/2. Team is home for first 2 games away for 3 and home for last 2 games within series.

3) First 4 weekends will be pool play. *5th weekend is "November Madness". (Tournament begins) There will be a best 2 out of 3 series each game, all games are 5 innings / this is a single elimination for the series / if you win, you stay and keep playing for the Championship! You lose, you go home. Team will be placed within brackets by power rankings. (Power rankings will be sent out on a per week basis and will be based off of wins and losses of games within each series)

4) Teams must report 10 minutes before their designated game time

5) DSFL umpire makes all the calls!!!!!

6) Games are umpired by the NWDS Coaches

7) No player can play on two different teams

8) Extra innings or time limit will be settled with the DSFL tie breaker.

Each player on the team will hit once, the tie breaker will based off of hits per team. If each team gets the same amount of hits, we will go to sudden death. Sudden Death is when your team chooses a player to go heads up with the competition. Each player gets one hit. If each player gets a hit then you can choose another player or keep the same player hitting. This keeps going until one player one ups the other team with a hit.

2009 additions to the DSFL

*This year NWDS has added the Home Run Champion. One player will be Crowned HR Champion! of the DSFL after the course of the first 4 weekends of the regular season.
*The "MONEY BALL" a colored baseball that will be used for big time situations. The "MONEY BALL" can be used by your team once per your 5 inning game. The "MONEY BALL" will count as 2 times the amount.

Example:
A single is a double
Double is a Home Run
Triple is Home Run and puts a man on 2nd
A Home Run is a 2 run Home Run
An out is 2 outs
A double play is 4 outs, and outs that exceed 3 in the inning will carry over to following inning.

A called strike is an out, a foul ball is an out and a pitched ball will remain a ball.

At NWDS we hope that you will want to be a part of the future tournaments to come. We will see you at the Diamond!

Sincerely,

NWDS Coaching Staff
